The Role
An established superyacht builder is seeking a Technical Manager to lead its technical team and oversee design, engineering and technical delivery across multiple yacht construction projects.
You will work closely with project management, design, production, procurement and quality teams, while managing relationships with clients, contractors, class and flag authorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the technical team across multiple engineering and design disciplines.
- Oversee technical drawings, procedures, standards and project documentation.
- Manage Design Document Registers and ensure technical deliverables support project schedules.
- Drive technical efficiency, processes, innovation and continuous improvement.
- Control engineering and design resources against project budgets.
- Coordinate external design subcontractors and suppliers.
- Support Project Managers and QC teams on technical matters, including Class, Flag and Marine Authority requirements.
- Develop and train the technical team.
- Provide technical solutions to support yacht construction and project delivery.
- 5+ years' experience managing technical/design teams across multiple disciplines.
- Degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering or Architecture.
- Strong written and spoken English.
- 10+ years' experience in yacht and/or commercial vessel construction preferred.
- Superyacht design or shipyard experience highly advantageous.
- Experience with aluminium vessel construction preferred.
- Strong understanding of yacht suppliers and supply chains.
- Strong communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills.
