We have a new opportunity for a Technical Advisor to join a leading ship management organisation within Northern Marine Manning Services based in Mumbai.

Location: India, Mumbai - Powai 

Reporting to: Marine Services Manager

Overview:

As a Technical Advisor, you will provide specialist marine technical support across a diverse range of marine assets, supporting safe, compliant and efficient vessel operations. Acting as a subject matter expert, you will work closely with Marine Quality Assurance teams, vessel operators and clients to deliver technical guidance, support assurance activities and contribute to the continuous improvement of marine operations.

The role will involve supporting marine risk assessments, vessel evaluations, audits, incident investigations, newbuild projects and technical reviews, while ensuring compliance with applicable industry standards, legislation and best practice.

Required skill set and experience:

  • Class 1 Certificate of Competency

  • Previous experience as a senior officer onboard tankers, LNG carriers, offshore vessels, FPSOs or similar marine assets.

  • Strong understanding of Classification Society, Flag State, SOLAS, MARPOL, ISM and ISPS requirements.

  • Experience supporting vessel operations, marine assurance activities and technical compliance programmes.

  • Knowledge of OCIMF, TMSA, SIRE, CDI, EBIS and SIGTTO programmes.

  • Experience conducting risk assessments, incident investigations and technical reviews.

  • Exposure to vessel drydocking's, newbuild projects, vessel takeovers or shipyard activities.

  • Ability to prepare technical reports and present findings to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Strong communication, stakeholder management and problem-solving skills.

  • Experience supporting LNG, oil, chemical tanker, offshore or DP operations would be advantageous.

Desirable:

  • Formal Project Management qualification or training.

  • Lead Auditor qualification.

  • FPSO operational experience.

  • Previous experience within an oil major, marine assurance or ship management environment.

  • Experience supporting vessel newbuild programmes, sea trials and shipyard audits.
