Faststream is partnering with a leading international cruise operator to recruit a Superintendent – Hotel Furniture & Interiors for a shore-based position in Hamburg.

This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate with cruise industry experience and a passion for interior design, refurbishment projects, and hotel operations to play a key role in enhancing the guest experience across a modern fleet of cruise vessels.

The Opportunity As Superintendent – Hotel Furniture & Interiors, you will take responsibility for the condition, maintenance, refurbishment, and development of hotel interior spaces and external guest areas onboard assigned vessels. Working closely with shipboard teams, contractors, and internal stakeholders, you will oversee projects from concept through to completion, ensuring the highest standards of quality, functionality, and brand consistency.
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the maintenance, condition, and lifecycle planning of hotel interiors and external guest decks across assigned vessels.
  • Lead hotel refurbishment projects, upgrades, and improvement programmes, ensuring delivery on time and within budget.
  • Support the selection and implementation of furniture, fixtures, fittings, and interior design concepts in line with brand standards.
  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee drydock activities, including budgeting, forecasting, commissioning, and project execution.
  • Develop technical specifications, support tender processes, and manage relationships with external suppliers and service providers.
  • Conduct vessel inspections and audits covering hotel condition, operational standards, HESS requirements, and regulatory compliance.
  • Coordinate and supervise Facility Riding Teams to support onboard maintenance and project execution.
  • Collaborate with onboard and shore-based stakeholders to deliver a consistently high-quality guest experience.
Candidate Profile
  • Degree qualified in Naval Architecture, Interior Design, Architecture, Technical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience within the cruise industry or a closely related maritime environment.
  • Strong understanding of shipboard hotel operations, interior design, furniture specifications, and refurbishment projects.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, with AutoCAD reading skills essential.
  • Proven project management experience with the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and a structured, proactive approach to work.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Fluent English language skills.
  • Previous shore-based experience would be advantageous.
