As Technical Superintendent, you will be responsible for the technical management of assigned cruise vessels, working closely with onboard teams and external stakeholders to maintain high technical standards while controlling costs and optimising performance.
Key responsibilities include:
- Ensuring safe, efficient and contract‑aligned technical management of assigned cruise vessels
- Monitoring machinery and equipment performance, identifying issues and implementing corrective actions
- Developing and overseeing maintenance and repair plans, ensuring delivery within budget, quality standards and timelines
- Forecasting technical requirements, spare parts and training needs to support budget and maintenance planning
- Managing and resolving technical issues, maintaining clear communication with all stakeholders
- Ensuring compliance with class, flag and regulatory requirements, implementing technical updates as required
- Planning, managing and following up on dry dockings and major repair projects to ensure safe, on‑time and on‑budget execution
- Preparing and controlling technical budgets (OPEX & CAPEX), identifying deviations and cost‑saving opportunities
- Conducting vessel visits, inspections and internal audits, with clear reporting and follow‑up actions
About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring solid cruise‑industry technical experience and a proactive, structured approach.
You will have:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture (or equivalent), or Chief Engineer certification
- A minimum of 3 years’ sailing experience as a Senior Officer (preferably on cruise vessels), or
- A minimum of 3 years’ shore‑based experience as a Technical Superintendent within cruise operations
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of vessel technical systems and marine regulations
- Excellent project management capability, particularly around dry dockings and refit projects
- Strong communication, negotiation and stakeholder‑management skills
- Highly organised, detail‑focused and commercially aware
- Fluent English with solid IT / PC capability
