Faststream are partnering with an innovative engineering business, seeking an experienced Senior Naval Architect to support the delivery of technically advanced marine and offshore projects. This is an opportunity to join a highly skilled team working on cutting-edge vessel and floating asset developments within a fast-evolving sector.

The Role

As a Senior Naval Architect, you will lead naval architecture activities across a variety of projects, from early-stage concept design through to engineering delivery and regulatory approval. You’ll work closely with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and classification bodies to deliver practical, compliant, and commercially effective solutions.

This will be an office based role, based in London.  

Responsibilities
  • Lead naval architecture input across ship and offshore engineering projects.
  • Produce and review technical designs, calculations, and analysis packages.
  • Support tender preparation and technical proposals for new opportunities.
  • Carry out feasibility studies, stability assessments, structural evaluations, and performance analysis.
  • Ensure designs comply with classification society and statutory regulations.
  • Coordinate with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory authorities throughout project delivery.
  • Review work completed by internal teams and external consultants.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers and naval architects.
  • Represent the business during technical meetings, industry engagements, and project discussions.
  • Support continuous improvement, innovation, and technical development within the team.
Requirements
  • Degree qualified in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Ship Science, or a related discipline.
  • Around 5–10 years’ experience within ship design, offshore engineering, classification, or marine consultancy environments.
  • Strong understanding of vessel structures, stability, and marine engineering principles.
  • Experience working with classification societies and marine regulatory frameworks.
  • Ability to perform engineering analysis using both first-principles and specialist software tools.
  • Experience delivering technically complex or multidisciplinary marine projects.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Eligibility to work full-time in the UK.
Desirable
  • Professional membership or chartership status.
  • Experience using NAPA, ANSYS, SOLIDWORKS, or AutoCAD.
  • Exposure to offshore or specialist vessel projects.
  • Shipyard, vessel operations, or survey experience.
