This is a full time, term position of 1 year with the possibility of extension.
This is a rare opportunity to join a technically sophisticated and mission-driven organization operating cutting-edge marine assets, including a newly commissioned flagship vessel supporting deep-sea exploration, robotics, and advanced ocean research.
The successful candidate will act as the primary technical liaison between vessel crews and shore-side management, ensuring vessels remain fully operational, compliant, and mission ready.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage planned and corrective maintenance programs across the fleet
- Lead drydock periods, refits, and shipyard repair projects
- Coordinate contractors, vendors, and technical procurement activities
- Support vessel crews with engineering troubleshooting and technical guidance
- Monitor vessel performance, equipment reliability, and maintenance planning
- Ensure compliance with USCG, ISM, SOLAS, and Class requirements
- Prepare vessels for inspections, surveys, and audits
- Manage maintenance budgets and technical documentation
- Support and lead marine engineering personnel and technical teams
- Degree qualified in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or related discipline
- Previous shore-side marine engineering or technical superintendent experience
- Strong understanding of vessel maintenance, marine systems, and shipyard operations
- Experience managing drydock and repair projects
- USCG Engineer Officer license required, a 3rd Assistant Engineer (3A/E) unlimited license or higher, with international endorsement preferred
- Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
- Previous research vessel, offshore, government, or specialist vessel experience advantageous
- Salary: $180,000 – $230,000
