I’m currently supporting one of the worlds largest cruise companies in their search for an experienced Project Planner to join their project delivery team in Hamburg.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced planning professional to play a key role in the delivery of large-scale passenger vessel refit and dry dock programmes, working across multiple disciplines and stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to schedule.
The role would suit someone with a strong background in project planning and controls who enjoys working in complex project environments and is confident managing changing priorities, monitoring progress and supporting project teams through delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the planning and coordination of dry dock activities across multiple disciplines and stakeholders
- Develop, maintain and continuously optimise detailed project schedules
- Monitor daily progress during dry dock execution, ensuring activities remain aligned with the agreed plan
- Monitor critical paths, milestones, risks and potential delays, providing clear reporting to the project team
- Participate on-site during dry dock periods to support execution and respond to changing requirements
- Continuously review and improve planning processes, using lessons learned to optimise future projects
- Adapt project plans to changing conditions, unforeseen events and evolving project requirements
- Support the Project / Dry Dock Manager with reporting, analysis and information to support effective decision-making
- Work closely with project stakeholders to ensure clear communication and alignment throughout the project lifecycle
We’re interested in speaking with professionals who have:
- A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering, Shipbuilding, Ship Operations or a related discipline
- Previous experience in planning and delivering ship newbuilds, conversions, refits, repairs or other complex engineering projects
- Strong project management and project controls experience
- Excellent knowledge of MS Project and MS Office
- Experience working within complex, multi-disciplinary project environments
- A structured and organised approach, with strong time management skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- The ability to work collaboratively while also taking ownership of your area of responsibility
- Strong written and spoken English
The Opportunity:
Hamburg, Germany
Hybrid working – up to 3 days per week from home
2-year fixed-term contract, with potential for a permanent position
Approximately 25% travel
