An exceptional opportunity has arisen for an experienced Paint Inspector to join the site team on one of the most significant cruise ship construction programmes currently underway.
This is a rare opportunity to play a key role in the construction of a first-in-class cruise vessel, working within a major European shipbuilding environment and contributing to the delivery of one of the world's largest and most technically advanced cruise ships.
Working as part of the Owner's Site Team, you will be responsible for overseeing coating and preservation activities throughout the construction process, ensuring the highest standards of quality.

Key Responsibilities
- Act as the Owner's Representative for all coating, corrosion protection and preservation activities throughout this construction phase.
- Perform inspections of surface preparation, abrasive blasting, environmental conditions, paint application and final coating acceptance across all areas of the vessel.
- Verify that all coating activities are carried out in accordance with project specifications, approved paint systems, quality requirements and applicable industry standards.
- Ensure compliance with classification society requirements, shipyard procedures and contractual quality expectations.
- Review and witness pre-treatment operations including steel preparation, weld treatment, edge preparation, cleanliness verification and surface profile measurements.
- Monitor coating contractors and shipyard personnel to ensure approved application methods and best practices are consistently followed.
- Review inspection records, quality documentation and test reports, ensuring complete traceability and compliance.
- Identify coating defects, non-conformances and quality concerns, issuing reports and driving corrective actions through to closure.
- Liaise closely with shipyard management, contractors, coating manufacturers, surveyors and project stakeholders to resolve technical issues efficiently.
- Participate in quality reviews, production meetings and project progress discussions relating to coating and preservation activities.
- Provide technical guidance on corrosion prevention, coating performance and application methodologies.
- Ensure preservation activities are effectively maintained throughout construction to support long-term asset integrity and coating performance.
- Prepare detailed inspection reports and maintain accurate project records.
- Support commissioning, final acceptance inspections and vessel handover activities.
- Champion a culture of quality, safety and continuous improvement across the project.
The Ideal Candidate
Essential
- FROSIO Level III Paint Inspector Certification.
- Degree qualified in a relevant Engineering discipline.
- Extensive experience in vessel fabrication, coating inspection and quality assurance.
- Strong knowledge of steel preparation, surface treatment, blasting operations and protective coating systems.
- Proven experience performing coating inspections within marine, shipbuilding, offshore or heavy industrial environments.
- Excellent understanding of paint application processes, inspection methodologies and coating specifications.
- Experience reviewing inspection documentation and quality records.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with multiple stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently within a demanding newbuild site environment.
- Experience within cruise ship, offshore, LNG or other specialist vessel construction projects.
- Previous involvement in major vessel newbuilding programmes.
- Strong knowledge of classification society requirements and marine industry standards.
