We are partnering with a highly reputable and well-established shipping company to recruit an experienced Operations Manager – Tankers. This is a confidential opportunity within a business known for its strong market presence, collaborative culture, and proven excellent staff retention.
This is a hands-on, commercially focused role overseeing the full lifecycle of tanker operations across a fleet of 8–9 vessels. Working as part of a close-knit team of four operators, you will play a key role in voyage planning, execution, and optimisation, acting as a central link between charterers, ship captains, and internal stakeholders.
The Role:
You will take ownership of day-to-day fleet operations, ensuring voyages are executed safely, efficiently, and in line with charter party requirements. The role combines both marine and commercial operations, with a strong emphasis on voyage performance and TCE optimisation.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing end-to-end voyage operations, from planning through to completion
- Liaising closely with Masters, charterers, agents, and internal departments
- Monitoring vessel performance, bunker consumption, and port costs
- Optimising routes, turnaround times, and cargo operations
- Interpreting and executing charter party terms
- Minimising off-hire and operational delays
- Approving stowage plans and supporting cargo/tank cleaning operations
- Reviewing hire/freight invoices and supporting commercial accuracy
- Appointing and negotiating with port agents
- Supporting incident investigations and promoting a strong safety culture
About You:
- 2–3+ years’ shore-based tanker operations experience
- Strong background in CPP and/or DPP tanker operations
- Solid understanding of charter party terms and commercial operations
- Confident communicator with experience liaising across ship and shore
- Detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
- Previous seagoing experience is advantageous but not essential
