An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a growing international marine organisation supporting complex offshore operations worldwide.
This role will be responsible for managing a portfolio of third-party chartered vessels, ensuring commercial performance, operational excellence, and the successful delivery of critical offshore projects.
This is a remote-based position in the UK with regular international travel, including regular visits to the United States.
You will take ownership of a growing fleet of chartered vessels supporting offshore operations across multiple regions. Leading commercial negotiations, managing supplier and vessel owner relationships, overseeing contract performance, and ensuring chartered assets deliver against operational and financial objectives.
The role will also involve leading a small team from day one, with the opportunity to help build and scale the function as the organisation continues to grow.
Key Responsibilities
- Negotiate and manage time charter and vessel service agreements.
- Lead commercial discussions with vessel owners, operators, brokers, and subcontractors.
- Manage chartered vessel performance against agreed KPIs and contractual obligations.
- Monitor operational delivery, vessel utilisation, and supplier performance.
- Identify and recover downtime costs, performance shortfalls, and contractual claims where appropriate.
- Develop scalable processes, reporting, and governance across the chartering function.
- Build and maintain relationships across the offshore vessel market.
- Lead and develop a team responsible for vessel chartering and marine asset management.
- Support project teams with vessel sourcing, mobilisation, and execution activities.
- Provide market intelligence on vessel availability, utilisation, and commercial trends.
To be successful in this role, you will bring a combination of commercial, operational, and leadership experience within the offshore marine sector.
You may come from offshore vessel operations, marine asset management, subsea projects, offshore construction, survey, trenching, cable-lay, ROV, or specialist vessel chartering environments.
You will ideally have:
- Experience negotiating and managing offshore vessel charter agreements.
- Strong knowledge of time charter contracts and commercial risk management.
- Experience managing third-party vessel owners, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- A track record of driving operational performance and accountability through KPIs.
- Previous leadership experience, including managing and developing teams.
- A strong network across the offshore vessel market.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- The ability to work independently in a remote environment while collaborating with international teams.
