As an Installation engineer your main tasks and responsibilities:
- Leading retrofit work for MBR systems on active seagoing vessels with paying passengers onboard
- Attending installation support and inspection work on new build projects in shipyards
- Actively being involved with pre-installation meetings up to 3 months in advance of the job starting
- Proactively studying and understanding the project drawings including piping and instrumentation drawings, full fabrication drawings and installation wiring diagrams
- Assisting with electrical and mechanical design and system upgrades as required
- Working with and managing subcontractor labour, sometimes up to 20 people of varying nationalities, during retrofit work
- Confidently making modifications to outline design plans, when necessary, to solve unexpected design challenges given the local conditions onboard
- Performing pre-commissioning checks including flooding the tanks to ensure zero leakage, electrical rotation of pumps and functional check of blowers etc.
Requirements...
- A proven background within the marine sector, preferably within a shipyard building engineering environment
- A formal qualification within marine engineering e.g. HNC/HND level or NVQ3 with experience in maintaining and installing electro mechanical systems or relevant experience
- Understanding of PLC control systems would be advantageous
- Must have a sound and full understanding of, and with the ability to follow, P&ID drawings, process flow drawings and complex electrical drawings
- Pro-active and independent individual with a team player attitude
- Practical problem solver with the ability to display a systematic approach to evaluation and resolution
- Excellent communicator (written and verbal) with both colleagues and customers
- Valid passport and driving license
- Willingness to travel abroad for up to a month at a time and on occasion longer
- Fluent in English, both written and verbal
