Job Description

Faststream Recruitment has partnered a Leading Ship Manager to identify, engage and attract an experienced Head of Marine Fuel to spearhead their efforts to explore the viability, risks, and adoption of more sustainable, zero emission alternative marine fuels.

In this senior level position, you will be playing a leading role in exploring, and driving the strategy, execution, development, and feasibility of ammonia, hydrogen, methanol, and biofuels as a marine fuel.

This will include addressing the risks posed by various marine fuels, collaborate with shipyards, engine makers, class societies and suppliers to develop solutions for the use of more alternative fuels in the maritime industry.

You will oversee and manage the process of assessing and positing existing assets (development or operating) to take advantage of emerging trends, changes, and developments in the adoption of alternative marine fuels.

You will also be responsible for the formation and management of strategic alliances with major equipment suppliers, operators, investors, project developers, and other value chain participants.

To succeed in this role, you will need to be self-motivated and a 'go-getter'. You will be curious and passionate about sustainability, innovation, technology, and leading the charge in new green shipping technologies and fuels.

Due to the intricacies of this position, someone with a background as a Naval Architect or a Chief Engineer would be preferred.
