Fleet Manager
The Fleet Manager will be expected to demonstrate:
- Previous experience in a Technical Superintendent capacity or another relevant leadership role, ideally built over at least 5 years within a similar operational environment;
- Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal;
- Effective leadership, organisation, and interpersonal abilities, with the confidence to work collaboratively across a wider team;
- A solid understanding of the shipping industry, including the relevant regulatory framework and industry standards;
- Sound technical knowledge relating to the operation, maintenance, and management of vessels within the fleet.
The Fleet Manager will take ownership of a designated group of vessels and will be responsible for ensuring that fleet activities are coordinated in a structured, safe, and efficient manner. This will include identifying operational risks, ensuring appropriate controls are in place, and supporting the smooth day-to-day management of the vessels under their remit.
The role will also involve maintaining a strong working knowledge of the company's management system and ensuring its consistent application across the fleet. The Fleet Manager will be expected to support the ongoing development of procedures, contribute to improvements in working practices, and help drive high standards across the department.
A further part of the role will be to oversee how management system requirements are implemented on board, while promoting a positive departmental culture centred around safety, environmental responsibility, and energy awareness.
The Fleet Manager will also be expected to help ensure that all vessels under full management are operated safely, cost-effectively, and in line with company expectations. In addition, the role may include participation in the interview and selection process for new Technical Superintendents alongside senior leadership.
Reporting line
The Fleet Manager reports directly to Top Management.
