Faststream Recruitment is partnering with a global marine engineering and technology business to recruit a Project & Service Engineer to support its growing marine digital solutions presence across Malaysia and the wider APAC region.
This is a hands-on regional technical role requiring someone who can be effective from day one. The successful candidate will already have experience in vessel attendance, marine system installation, commissioning, fault finding and customer technical support.
The Role
You will act as a first-level technical and field support engineer for customers across APAC. This will include installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, vessel attendance, system configuration, customer training and escalation support.
You will be responsible for:
- Installing and commissioning marine digital systems onboard vessels.
- Conducting site surveys and assessing cabling, power supply, equipment placement and integration requirements.
- Supporting FAT, commissioning, vessel attendance, sea trials and customer acceptance activities.
- Troubleshooting technical issues during and after installation.
- Responding to customer technical tickets across the APAC time zone.
- Supporting shipyards, local installers, vessel crew and customers during active projects.
- Providing technical training and guidance to vessel crew and customers.
- Coordinating with overseas technical teams on complex technical escalations.
- Preparing clear service reports, commissioning documentation and customer updates.
We are looking for someone with hands-on experience in marine electronics, automation, vessel electrical systems, instrumentation, digital monitoring systems or marine OEM service support.
You should have:
- Proven experience in marine field service, commissioning, installation or technical support.
- Strong hands-on fault-finding and diagnostic ability.
- Ability to read electrical drawings, wiring diagrams and technical documentation.
- Knowledge of IP-based systems, networking and communication diagnostics.
- Familiarity with RS232, RS485, Modbus, CAN bus, Ethernet or similar protocols.
- Experience attending vessels, shipyards or offshore/marine customer sites independently.
- Strong customer-facing communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while coordinating with remote technical teams.
- Willingness to travel when required.
