Responsibilities & Authorities:
- Works closely with the CEO, President and management team to develop long-term operational strategies and achieve company objectives.
- Performs continuous oversight of the safe operation of the fleet
- Keeps the President/COO fully advised on fleet and individual vessel performance, condition, operations, safety, service reliability and readiness issues.
- Maintains strong relationships with Ship Owners, Class society, Flag State, Labor, Shipyards and Vendors
- Responsible for effective management of OPEX and CAPEX budgets for the Operations department.
- Acts as the Fleet Manager/Program Manager for commercial operations when there is not a dedicated person assigned to that role.
- Actively participates in new business development and bid submissions.
- Extensive operational marine background (Deck or Engine)
- Shoreside management experience in the maritime industry
- Demonstrated leadership skills
- U.S. citizen, holds or eligible for a security clearance
- Commercial marine management experience; tanker experience highly desired
- Technical background in marine engineering
- Familiarity with classification society rules (e.g. ABS, DNV, Lloyds)
- U.S. union experience
