Please note, this role has extensive international travel, approximately 40% annually. You will need to be a US Citizen, able to obtain security clearance.
This is not a traditional warehouse management position. It is a varied, hands-on role combining depot operations, logistics, facilities management, contractor supervision and international project support.
Based from Baltimore, you will help manage the day-to-day operation of a busy marine facility while travelling internationally to support major equipment and cargo transfer operations.
Overseas locations can include the Caribbean, Europe, Asia and the Pacific.
The Role
You will be responsible for:
- Coordinating the loading, unloading and movement of specialist equipment and materials.
- Managing contractors and stevedoring teams during major transfer operations.
- Supporting shipping and receiving activities in Baltimore, including hands-on use of forklifts and other equipment - Training provided.
- Coordinating cranes, lifting equipment and other resources required for operations.
- Maintaining accurate inventory and customer asset records.
- Supporting the maintenance of depot buildings, equipment and grounds.
- Coordinating contractors and preventative maintenance activities.
- Preparing operational cost estimates and quotations.
- Supporting customer storage agreements and project billing.
- Working directly with customers and their representatives during operations.
- Supporting operations at international depot locations.
- Maintaining high standards of safety and operational compliance.
We are particularly interested in candidates from backgrounds such as:
- Marine or port operations
- Offshore or subsea logistics
- Heavy equipment or industrial depots
- Warehousing involving large or specialist equipment
- Project or heavy cargo operations
- Shipyards or marine facilities
- Offshore service bases
- Military logistics or operational environments
Just as importantly, you need to be comfortable getting involved yourself. This is not a position where everything is delegated to a team. You could be operating a forklift, helping resolve a facility issue or working alongside contractors one day, and preparing estimates, reviewing inventory or meeting with customers the next.
Strong computer, organizational and communication skills are therefore important.
International Travel Approximately 40% international and domestic travel is expected.
Some travel is planned, while operational requirements can occasionally require deployment at relatively short notice. During major transfer operations, working days can extend to approximately 12 hours until the operation is completed.
When based in Baltimore and outside major operational periods, the position typically operates a normal 40-hour working week.
Why Consider This Opportunity?
This is an opportunity to join a well-established international organization operating within a highly specialized area of the marine industry.
You'll gain exposure to global operations and specialist subsea cable handling while developing experience across logistics, facilities, commercial activities and customer management.
There is also genuine scope for longer-term development for someone capable of combining strong operational ability with commercial and customer-facing skills.
If you enjoy variety, international operations and a role where you're equally comfortable working in the field and behind a desk, we'd like to hear from you.
