This is a hands-on leadership role where you will oversee the full crewing function, manage a small team, and work closely with both internal stakeholders and external recruitment and training providers.
Responsibilities
- Lead the day-to-day crewing function across a fleet of offshore vessels.
- Plan and coordinate crew rotations, mobilisations and crew changes.
- Source seafarers through recruitment partners and negotiate supplier costs.
- Prepare employment contracts and oversee onboarding activities.
- Ensure vessels remain compliant with Safe Manning requirements while optimising crewing costs.
- Maintain crew certification, training matrices, medicals and travel documentation, ensuring all records remain valid and up to date.
- Coordinate with Flag States, training providers and external agencies to maintain compliance.
- Manage and develop the Crewing Officer and Crewing Assistants, ensuring personnel records and databases are accurately maintained.
- Review crew performance appraisals and coordinate promotions, training requirements and development plans.
- Maintain accurate personnel, payroll and certification records within the crewing system.
- Provide out-of-hours support when operationally required.
- Work closely with internal departments to ensure accurate and timely communication regarding crew movements and operational requirements.
- Previous experience in a Crewing Manager, Senior Crewing Officer or similar leadership position within the maritime sector.
- Strong understanding of marine regulations, certification requirements and industry compliance.
- Experience managing crew planning and vessel manning for offshore or commercial vessels.
- Previous people management or team leadership experience.
- Budget awareness and experience managing crewing costs.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise multiple operational demands.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
- High levels of discretion, professionalism and attention to detail.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and crewing/personnel management systems.
