Role - Crewing Business Development Manager
Location - Hamburg, Germany

The Crewing Business Development Manager will be responsible for driving growth within the crewing and maritime services space by designing and executing a structured customer acquisition and PR strategy, expanding the client portfolio, and strengthening long-term partnerships.

The role has a strong commercial focus on crew management solutions, combining strategic planning, senior relationship management, commercial negotiation, and close coordination with operational crewing teams to ensure sustainable, high-quality service delivery.

Key Responsibilities Strategic Development
  • Develop and implement a structured customer acquisition strategy with a strong focus on crewing and crew management services
  • Design and execute a targeted PR and market positioning strategy aligned with the company’s crewing capabilities
  • Support the ongoing development and optimisation of crewing-related business segments
  • Contribute to initiatives aimed at revenue optimisation, service differentiation, and long-term client retention within the crewing domain
Sales & Client Acquisition
  • Identify and acquire new customers requiring crew management and crewing solutions across the maritime industry
  • Establish and maintain direct contact with key decision-makers, including shipowners, technical managers, fleet managers, and crewing managers
  • Prepare and deliver professional sales presentations and commercial proposals tailored to crewing structures, manning requirements, and operational realities
  • Represent the company and its crewing services at industry events, conferences, and trade fairs
  • Negotiate crewing contracts, manning agreements, and commercial terms in close coordination with the Managing Director
  • Develop and negotiate budgets for crewing-related offers, ensuring commercial competitiveness and operational feasibility
Key Account Management
  • Maintain and systematically expand an existing portfolio of crewing-focused clients
  • Act as the primary commercial point of contact for customers on all crewing and crew management topics
  • Gather structured feedback on crew performance, service quality, and operational requirements
  • Coordinate closely with operational crewing teams to resolve issues and continuously improve service delivery
  • Ensure professional communication of solutions and outcomes back to clients
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with operational crewing teams to ensure commercial commitments align with recruitment pipelines, crew availability, and compliance requirements
  • Align crewing sales strategy with management and internal stakeholders
  • Provide market intelligence on crewing trends, wage developments, competitor activity, and client expectations to support strategic decision-making
Your Profile
  • Degree in Business Administration, Maritime Studies, Shipping Management, or a comparable field
  • Several years of experience in business development, commercial management, or sales within the maritime and/or crew management sector
  • Strong understanding of maritime operations, crewing models, and manning structures
  • Proven experience in negotiating crewing contracts and developing commercially viable budgets
  • Established network within the shipping and crewing industry is highly advantageous
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills
  • Entrepreneurial mindset combined with a structured and analytical approach
  • Fluent in English (German advantageous)
