This is an excellent opportunity for a shipping operations professional to assist in the safe, efficient and cost-effective operation of a mixed fleet, including chemical tankers, product tankers and container vessels.
The successful candidate will be providing day-to-day support in the operations across the fleet.
The role
As Operations Manager, you will be responsible for assisting in all aspects of vessel operations, including voyage planning, scheduling, execution, bunkering, agent coordination, voyage cost control and operational accounting.
You will work closely with Owners, Commercial Managers, Masters, Charterers, Brokers, Agents and other stakeholders to ensure the smooth running of fleet operations.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Monitoring day-to-day vessel operations, including voyage planning, scheduling and execution
- Overseeing bunkering activities and agent nominations
- Monitoring and controlling voyage costs, including port expenses and disbursements
- Liaising with Owners, Commercial Managers, Masters, Charterers, Brokers and Agents on operational matters
- Supporting Masters with cargo-related matters, including coating compatibility, tank cleaning requirements and cargo queries
- Approving voyage-related expenses and overseeing operational accounting matters
- Monitoring outstanding receivables, including freight, hire, demurrage and disbursement accounts
- Supporting the development and improvement of operational systems and procedures
- Overseeing P&I, cargo and FD&D claims
- Ensuring compliance with EU ETS and FuelEU Maritime requirements
- Monitoring vessel performance, hull cleaning programmes and scrubber-related earnings calculations
- Overseeing stevedore damage claims and crew bonus schemes
- Establishing and monitoring departmental KPIs, including SDR recovery and EU ETS cost recovery
About you
To be considered for this role, you should have previous experience in an Operations role within a tanker, container, ship owner or ship management environment or have a strong Sea going background probably within Tankers and looking for your first role ashore.
