The Role As a Claims Manager, you'll manage claims from initial notification through to resolution, working closely with senior colleagues, members, legal advisors, surveyors, and technical experts to deliver commercially sound outcomes.
This is a hybrid position based in London, with two days per week in the office.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage marine insurance claims from inception to settlement.
- Appoint and oversee lawyers, surveyors and other service providers.
- Build strong relationships with members, providing practical claims advice and exceptional service.
- Set and review reserves, maintain accurate claims records, and prepare reports.
- Analyse legal, technical and shipping documentation to determine liability and strategy.
- Contribute to knowledge sharing, publications and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Work collaboratively with experienced claims professionals on complex international cases.
- Experience managing claims within marine insurance, P&I, shipping, insurance or a similar specialist environment.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Sound commercial judgement and the ability to make informed decisions.
- Experience working with legal professionals, surveyors or technical experts.
- A legal qualification, seagoing Certificate of Competency, relevant degree or equivalent experience.
- Confidence handling multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
