This role has responsibility for overseeing contracts from award through to successful delivery, ensuring projects are completed safely, commercially and in line with contractual requirements.
Working closely with project, commercial and operational teams, you will provide strong contractual leadership across multiple projects while managing client relationships, risk and overall contract performance.
Responsibilities
- Take ownership of contracts throughout the project lifecycle, from contract award through to completion.
- Review, interpret and manage contractual obligations, ensuring both the business and its clients meet agreed requirements.
- Work closely with Project Managers and commercial teams to monitor contract performance, programme, cost and risk.
- Manage contractual correspondence, variations, claims and change control.
- Identify potential contractual and commercial risks and ensure appropriate mitigation measures are implemented.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and key project stakeholders.
- Support negotiations and resolution of contractual or commercial issues.
- Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with agreed contractual terms, company procedures and relevant industry standards.
- Strong contracts management experience is essential, ideally gained within civil engineering, marine construction, infrastructure or a related contracting environment.
- Proven experience managing contracts through the full project lifecycle.
- Good working knowledge of construction contracts, with experience of NEC and/or JCT highly advantageous.
- Experience managing contractual risk, variations, claims and change control.
- Strong commercial awareness with the ability to understand the financial implications of contractual decisions.
- Confident working with clients, subcontractors and senior internal stakeholders.
- Strong negotiation, communication and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working within a contractor-led, project-based engineering environment would be highly desirable.
