Opportunity for consultants with retrofitting, installation or operations experience of Ballast Water Treatment Systems to take part in a 2 day technical review group ,for a leading publication in technical standards an operational guidance in the shipping industry.

- Current issues regards retrofitting planning, BWTS / BWMS choice, delays
- Current issues in the retrofitting process now that companies/dry-docks are getting more experience
- Operational issues eg in certain weather conditions, issues re bypassing
- Surveyors/Port State control issues – what are port States focusing on, what are they inspecting on the systems and what are the issues being highlighted in record books
- Issues between different BWMS and between different flag States; are their local issues, eg US/other States that are not signatory to the BWM in terms of specific systems
- Commissioning testing – the requirement for testing enters into force on 1st June this year.
To apply you must:
- have experience with numerous BWTS / BWMS installations in dry-dock as a Senior Ship Engineer or Superintendent OR;
- have experience of the BWTS / BWMS process as a Classification Society Surveyor / Port State or Flag State Inspector OR;
- have experience of commissioning testing/multiple systems and the installation process as a consultant on ships in general
- be available for 2 days either in-person in Scotland or remotely in the first 2 week of July
- be available UK time between the hours of 9am and 6pm
Ideally the workgroup will take place in person, with travel / accommodation expenses to Scotland covered. There is the option to take place remotely, to allow for international candidates; the workgroup will either be in person or remote not a hybrid mix.
