Faststream Recruitment has entered into an exclusive partnership with MSC Cruises to recruit and hire the new build site teams across Europe who will be critical in MSC's extensive cruise ship new build programme.

The Senior IT Technical Project Specialist is responsible for ensuring the integrity of the systems or applications deployed on new ships under construction, for ensuring technical specifications provided by external providers meet internal standards and requirements, for end to end coordination and delivery of the SDCN and LES Infrastructure. (Ships Digital Communication Network , Light and Sound.)

Key Responsibilities

- Performs across varied technology domains, including architecture, infrastructure and security;

- Looks after such domains during the implementation of hardware and software's related to general IT infrastructure as well as new technologies and entertainment (multimedia) products;

- Identifies, prioritise and reports problems as well as suggests solutions to complex technical issues;

- Checks and reports on infrastructure security;

- Investigates technical problems and analyses opportunities for both new and existing services, providing recommendations;

- Coordinates and monitors the inspectors/engineers daily work activities;

- First point-of-contact with the Ship's Building Manager, the shipyard, suppliers and the technical office within the related discipline;

- Ensures that the infrastructure is implemented within the set timescale and in line with the requirements approved by the technical office;

- Attends project meetings and prepares progress reports;

- Highlights relevant aspects of the ship's IT infrastructure that can be improved for future constructions.

Job-Requirements: skills, competencies, experience

- Fluency in English, knowledge of Italian is a plus;

- A Degree in Information technology/IT Engineering applied to shipbuilding or equivalent;

- Substantial experience in an IT technical support role applied to cruise ships or new shipbuilding; Some experience in a leadership position is also required;

- Proven hands-on experience of problem resolution and troubleshooting;

- High level IT certifications in Hardware Services and Infrastructure and Project Management;

- Expert user of Microsoft Office (including Excel, MS Word, MS Project or equivalent and PowerPoint);

- High level of project leadership skills;

- Good analytic skills, attention to detail and a 'can do' attitude;

- Availability to work long hours under pressure and over the weekend when required. Frequent travelling is involved.
