I am working with a client in Aberdeen, who seek a Naval Architect with Moorings expertise to join their team. This a junior-mid level role, best suited to someone with 2-5 years of experience, and offering a great opportunity for progression to someone at the start of their career.

Types of work will include:


    * Mooring system (quayside, offshore and inshore) design, installation and 3rd party reviews
    * Mooring integrity management
    * Riser design
    * Subsea operation assessments and reviews
    * Inspection planning and management (moorings, hulls)
    * Support for marine operations (engineering assessments and third-party reviews)
    * Float-over assessments
    * Hydrodynamic and stability assessments

Typical tasks may include:


    * Hydrodynamic, motion and stability assessments using AQWA/ SESAM and GHS with occasional involvement in stability surveys
    * Mooring assessments using ORCAFLEX and any frequency domain mooring software
    * Risers, pipelay and cable installation assessments using FLEXCOM and ORCAFLEX
    * Moorings integrity management system development, reviews and inspection planning
    * Bollard pull and tow assessments, mooring and marine risk assessments and third-party reviews for marine operations
    * Operability analysis and engineering reviews for walk to work and DP operations

Person specification:


    * Degree in Naval Architecture, or other relevant field of engineering
    * Between 2 and 5 years of experience in a similar role
    * Working towards chartership or chartered
    * Good understanding of the nature and drivers of the offshore industry in general, including terminology and usages
    * Awareness of industry codes, guidance, best practice and familiarity with marine operations and risk assessment process
    * Track record of successful delivery of work experience an advantage
    * Excellent IT skills, adept in use of Microsoft Office applications
    * Familiarity with CAD and any ship design software would be advantageous
    * An enthusiastic and collaborative persona, able to work well with internal and external clients
