A great career opportunity is available to a junior Naval Architect in Aberdeen. The successful candidate will contribute to the planning and execution of projects, by performing engineering design, analysis and onshore/offshore support. This is not a defined graduate scheme, but offers fantastic exposure to all project stages, supported and guided by experienced team-mates. Progression and development is actively encouraged.

Reporting into the Engineering Manager, this role will require effective communication with Clients, 3rd Party Contractors and relevant technical authorities. You will build close working relationships with the internal teams of Engineers, Mariners, Design Engineers and support staff.

Performance will be measured against accurate, timely and on-budget delivery to clients, so you must be pro-active, organised and efficient, able to balance competing priorities, complex situations and tight deadlines. HSE, safety and assurance are essential considerations at all times, you will actively ensure that your own health & safety and that of all fellow workers is preserved at all times.

Job Functions:


    * Design mooring systems and perform engineering analyses
    * Carry out engineering tasks such as anchor handling analysis, riser analysis, installation analysis, diffraction analysis, fatigue analysis etc
    * Liaise with the drawing department, primarily for mooring design drawings
    * Prepare deliverables to clients
    * Contribute to advancing the technical competence of the engineering team
    * Prepare cost estimates and technical proposals in response to enquiries from clients
    * Assist in the preparation of company response to Invitations to Tender
    * Provide technical advice in response to internal/external queries related to mooring systems design
    * Interface with clients, vendors and third party contractors as required
    * Undertake quality assurance activities
    * Attend offshore operations, seafastening/load-out meetings, inspections/tests etc as required
    * Participate in on-call rotation

Essential Requirements:


    * Degree in Engineering or Naval Architecture
    * Relevant experience in mooring systems design (mobile and/or permanent units)
    * A good understanding of offshore operations, primarily related to mooring systems installation
    * Knowledge of industry codes and standards on mooring systems design
    * Competent in a mooring analysis software (such as Romeo/Gmoor32)
    * Basic knowledge of Orcaflex for modelling moorings/risers
    * Competent in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
    * Ability to work internationally and offshore

Beneficial Requirements:


    * Offshore Survival Training & Medicals
    * Experience in offshore installation projects
    * Experience in structural analysis, hydrodynamics and naval architecture
    * Higher educational qualifications
