DP Electrical Engineer

An international Marine and Offshore Consultancy that services span the entire offshore project lifecycle from engineering & design, construction and third party verification through to marine warranty surveying, dynamic positioning, installation, risk management and decommissioning.

The role…

To carry out Failure Mode Effect Analysis of Dynamic Positioned vessels in accordance with IMCA guidelines.


    * Carry out ship board FMEA proving trials and formulate detailed reports.
    * Conduct annual DP trials and shipboard electrical inspections as required.
    * To be responsible for preparing FMEA's of DP vessel electrical systems.
    * To be responsible for conducting DP Trials and reporting the results accurately
    * To liaise with other team members regarding the development of FMEAs
    * To visit Clients and Suppliers as and when required.
    * To uphold and carry out the duties of the post with due regard to the Company's Equal Opportunities and Dignity at Work Policy.
    * To uphold the Company's Health & Safety requirements, particularly with regard to agreed codes of practice and safe methods of working.

The person…


    * Educated to degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or equivalent appropriate engineering qualification.
    * Experience with switch gear and HV Switchboards and Frequency Drive systems.
    * Experience on DP vessels
    * A knowledge and understanding of basic engineering principles.
    * An engineering background preferably in Electrical Engineering.
    * Shipboard experience as ETO, ideally on DP vessels.
    * A good working knowledge of marine components, equipment and switchboards.
    * The ability to read and understand schematic drawings.
    * Good working knowledge of Microsoft software packages: Office, Excel, Word and Outlook.
    * The ability to work as a flexible and effective team member
    * The ability to prioritise tasks, produce accurate work and meet tight deadlines
    * Sound written and oral communication skills.
    * The ability to write reports in clear, concise English.
    * The ability to work on own initiative and as part of the wider team, recognising differing priorities and working with colleagues to find mutually acceptable ways forward to deliver all the tasks within the timescales
    * Excellent interpersonal skills
    * The ability to plan and prioritise work - working under pressure to tight deadlines yet flexible and adaptable to changing needs and situations
    * The ability to analyse, and interpret complex technical data
    * The ability to use, manipulate and apply software packages; Microsoft Office, Excel, Word and Outlook
    * The awareness of the need to identify hazards in their area of responsibility and the ability to assess and manage the associated risks.
