A top marine engineering company in the UK requires a Technical Sales Engineer.
You will be required to:
Evaluate customer requirements
Prepare technical presentations
Proactively identify new opportunities.
Develop relationships with designers, naval architects, manufacturers, suppliers, shipyards and ship operators.
Prepare and submit quotations to customers, including product and material specifications, sales price, shipping specifications, commercial details and estimated lead times.
Liaise internally with colleagues in purchasing, production planning and technical staff to ensure action is taken to meet order due dates.
Manage and review own customer orders, taking corrective action where necessary.
Providing sufficient information to the engineering and manufacturing departments to enable them to successfully engineer and manufacture product to the customer's specification.
Plan and execute a proactive customer contact schedule including site visits
Attendance at exhibitions, trade shows or promotional events as required.
Knowledge, Skill and Ability Requirements:
A self-motivated marine professional with a strong background in commercial vessels.
Knowledge of complete marine propulsion systems in motor vessels including propeller geometry and system design
Knowledge of vessel resistance and powering prediction calculations
Computer literate, possibly including 2D and 3D drafting software
Ability to cost purchased materials and components and assess manufacturing costs
Working knowledge of basic foundry, machine shop and finishing processes
Disciplined administrative skills and computer literate with AutoCAD, Microsoft Word, Excel , etc.
Ability to work on own initiative within a commercial and technical environment
Education and Experience Requirements
Will either have a Marine Engineering qualification or Bachelor of Engineering Degree in Naval Architecture or a proven track record of success in selling technical marine products in a maritime engineering environment
